The 9th Running Playlist

Today is an overcast cool day. Yesterday it was near 90, today's high in the PNW is supposed to be 66. That's us. I typically like to start my run with a slower song, like Adele - nice way to get pumping as I descend the hill. But today, I started with the same song I ended yesterday. My young son has been joining me on 1 mile runs the past few days and so yesterday I ended the run up our hill, more funky dancing than running to Train's great song that had us both laughing. Well perhaps he was laughing out of humiliation at his mothers Moves Like Jagger through the neighborhood!

Three Times a Lady would not generally make it into my playlist but I thought of it as perhaps a good beginning song. Today it popped on after I was revved from Train, as the 2nd song & I almost changed it. But it ended up being a good slow song to help me slow it down while descending out hill. All in all, the songs suited my gait today and re entry back into running, since my cardiologist gave me the okay and my cholesterol has um, ascended rapidly. Here's today's list - enjoy!

50 Ways to Say Goodbye - Train
Three Times a Lady - Commodores
Don't You Want Me - Glee Cast
Set Fire to the Rain - Adele
Dangerous Game - 3 Doors Down
Moves Like Jagger - Maroon 5
Youth in Revolt - Candlebox
Missioinary Man - Eurythmics
Run to You - Bryan Adams (cool down/stretch)

The White Line

I run against the traffic, along the left side of the white line. I feel power on the pavement, staring down the miles of white lined road in front of me, the glimmer of headlights in my eyes.

I live my life, against the traffic, on the right side of the white line. There I attempt to keep my life, walking the straight line, ever watchful for oncoming danger and once in awhile, sticking my foot out, over the line - onto the left side, abruptly jolting people awake, force them to stop their blind movement with the crowd, look around, angrily at the foot that tripped their gait and think.
